Excessive engine water temperature is a common fault in excavators. Under normal engine operation, the water temperature is generally set between 82 and 95 °C.
Excessive water temperature will affect the normal performance of engine power and shorten the service life of the engine. In response to this common phenomenon, the editor today introduces several common causes of excessive water temperature.
1. The machine is in an overloaded state for a long time, especially in a high-temperature environment
The high external temperature reduces the heat dissipation efficiency of the engine cooling system, and the engine continuously generates new heat, resulting in heat accumulation in the body. The water temperature is too high.
2. Long-term use of water with high hardness or impurities
Calcium and magnesium ions or impurities in the water will precipitate at high temperature and adhere to the inner surface of the water tank and water pipeline, forming scale. Scale will hinder the water flow and even block the pipeline, which will affect the operating efficiency of the heat dissipation cycle, affect the heat dissipation, and reduce the efficiency of the heat dissipation system.
3. If the radiator is not cleaned for a long time, a lot of dust will adhere to the surface of the radiator, which will affect the heat loss of the radiator
The radiator is the most direct heat dissipation device of the heat dissipation system. It is very important to ensure that the surface of the radiator is clean so that it can dissipate heat efficiently.
4. The thermostat is faulty
The thermostat is the core component of the heat dissipation system that senses and adjusts the temperature. If the thermostat is damaged, the heat dissipation system will not be able to switch between large and small cycles according to the water temperature. When the water temperature rises, it will not be able to switch to the large cycle heat dissipation in time, resulting in excessive water temperature.
5. Insufficient water
The water in the heat dissipation system is the transport carrier to bring the heat inside the engine to the radiator. Too little water directly affects the heat transfer efficiency.
6. The cooling fan blades are deformed and the belt is loose
The excavator engine is installed in a relatively airtight engine room. If the cooling fan cannot discharge the heat from the radiator and the body out of the engine room in time, the heat will accumulate in the engine room and affect the cooling efficiency of the engine.
7. The water pump is damaged
The water pump is the power source for the heat dissipation cycle operation. If the water pump is damaged, the efficiency of the heat dissipation cycle will be reduced or even stop running, resulting in an increase in water temperature and even damage to other components.
It is worth noting that the high engine water temperature is sometimes not only caused by one or two of the above factors, but the result of a combination of various factors.
Therefore, we must learn to make comprehensive judgments. So how do you usually prevent the engine water temperature from overheating?
First of all, do not use water with high hardness or impurities when adding water. Try to avoid long-term overload operation in a high temperature environment, clean the radiator surface frequently, keep the cooling fins clean, and check the cooling fan and belt regularly.
The engine is the heart of the excavator, and its working condition has a significant and direct impact on the working condition of the whole machine. Once the water temperature of the engine is overheated, the cause should be checked in time, and the faulty parts should be repaired or replaced in time to avoid damage to important components and cause heavy losses.
